On this day in 1865, John Wilkes Booth shot President Abraham Lincoln at Ford’s Theater in Washington D.C.  President Lincoln would die the next morning, becoming the first U.S. President to be assassinated. Lincoln is still regarded as the greatest President in U.S. history according to many polls and surveys. RIP President Lincoln
